ITIL Intermediate Course Update

The provision of high quality course materials, the quality of instruction, and the optimal course organization are the key elements of successful course deliveries and satisfied students. Developing, tuning and improving these three components, such that they work well in harmony, is what ITpreneurs offers to its customers.

During October 2008, ITpreneurs introduced the first batch of ITIL Intermediate courses (RCV, OSA, SOA, ST, SO) to the market followed by the launch of other intermediate courses SS, SD, CSI, PPO). Having gained experience while doing over 100 deliveries across the world, in the past months, we are now equipped and have enough experience to do proper updates of the Intermediate course materials. We received and incorporated valuable feedback from partners, students and instructors, to further enhance the delivery and the learning experience.

The structure and depth of the ITIL v3 Intermediate curriculum is very different from ITIL v2, requiring a distinctive course design approach.

ITpreneurs chose to focus on providing instructors with more facilitation tools, and provide learners with additional material across the theory, exercises, self-study and exam preparation to meet the needs of all learner types. Our instructional design approach is very solid and refreshing

What will the product update comprise of:

  • Better guidance for instructors: We are providing more PowerPoint slides with bulleted information, images, and diagrams, giving the instructor more structure and guidance in the delivery of the courses
  • Enhanced usability of the material: Where possible we are strengthening the links between Instructor Guide, Student Handbook and Reference Material
  • Clean up any obvious errors: Correction of proof reading errors, grammar, spelling errors
  • Strengthening of Exercises: We are improving assignments while adding sample answers to all questions in the Workbook, providing key take-aways and objectives with assignments
  • Homework: There is emphasis on 21 hours of homework as indicated in the official Syllabus

Starting with the release of the 1.2 Release Control and Validation (RCV) materials in June, we plan to complete the release process for the entire batch of Intermediate course materials by Oct. For more information, please get in touch with the ITpreneurs education team.

Further updates:

  • Course Familiarization for Instructors: the emphasis of the Course familiarization will include a more detailed course walk through. Thus the length of the course familiarization sessions will also increase to accommodate this extra focus. Self-reading material will be made available to explain how the course is designed.
  • Virtual Courses: Partners have an additional delivery option for the Intermediate courses, using an ITpreneurs Virtual Classroom. This provides greater flexibility in the delivery, and will significantly reduce the cost of training.
