Major Market Trends at itSMF Fusion 2009
During ITpreneurs participation in the itSMF event last month in Dallas, which had over a 1,000 people in attendance, we clearly identified three key market trends in the North American market:

• Clear trend towards distance learning
• ITIL Version 3 is picking up at the cost of Version 2
• 2009 is not a year for major innovations

Changes to ITIL Accreditation Scheme

The ITIL v3 Accredited Training Organization Scheme defines the requirements for organizations offering ITIL training courses to the market. ITIL Accreditation Scheme includes the rules and regulations for training providers, trainers and Exam Institutes and is ratified by the official ITIL Qualification board.

An update of this document was recently published and includes relevant updates for all ITpreneurs partners. Some of the important changes:
  • Accredited Training Organizations defined and introduction of “ATO Affiliates” term
  • Trainer requirement changes
ITpreneurs is also going to offer full administrative support and related services towards our partners to obtain the Affiliate status, and be able to continue offering ITIL training to their customers. A Business Case for COBIT -Part 2

The previous issue of the newsletter included an article on the business case for COBIT & Val IT. In a nutshell, the article was pretty clear about the value which COBIT and Val IT provide in achieving business goals through optimal use of the IT organization. Last month some other great surveys were published that provide some helpful information for building your business case for COBIT.

The IT Governance Institute published the results of the report called “An executive view of IT Governance”. Besides the views of executives which are relevant, the report will provide you with some more ammunition to put your point across as to why to make use of the COBIT / Val IT framework. The report also shows that progress has been made but there’s still a lot of room for improvement.
